Fedora vaut-il le coup face à Ubuntu ?
Supporté officiellement par Red Hat, Fedora est communautaire, et est une distribution à base de RPM.
Par contre, Ubuntu, supporté par Canonical, est communautaire, mais le dirigeant de Canonical, Mark Shuttleworth, décide un peu de tout.
Voyons les différences de ces deux distributions.
Ubuntu, basée sur Debian, a commencé en 2004. Fedora (le projet) a lui, commencé en 2003.
Communautées
La commaunautée Ubuntu est plus remplie que celle de Fedora, car Ubuntu est plus connu, grâce à sa simplicité.
Paquets
La aussi, Ubuntu gagne, vu que il faut ajouter les dépots rpmfusion sous Fedora, pour par exemple, profiter de VLC Media Player.
Ubuntu gagne surtout avec son logiciel intégré, la Logithéque Ubuntu, qui manque à Fedora.
Apparence
Là, Fedora gagne, pour sa version KDE, qui est plus belle que Kubuntu, un dérivé de Ubuntu avec KDE.
Par contre pour Fedora version Gnome, c’est Ubuntu qui remporte la victoire, malgré son aspect MacOS-Like.
Nous voyons donc bien que Fedora Linux est moins rempli que son concurrent Ubuntu Linux.
Néanmoins, ça vaut le coup de l’essayer.

Donc ton seul argument à ce passage est ta souris qui ne fonctionne pas ?
Selon moi (grand utilisateur d’Ubuntu), c’est n’est pas justifié. Personellement, le fait que je n’aie jamais eu de soucis avec ma souris m’empêcherait de passer à une autre distribution, donc ?
Faut reconnaître que c’est un peu idiot comme argument. Si d’un coup elle ne fonctionnait plus, c’était certainement dû à un package que tu avais mis à jour ou installé, enfin bon. Aucune raison de mettre Ubuntu en cause.
De plus, je suis persuadé que tu auras aussi des soucis avec Fedora. Il y en a sous chaque distribution, après ils sont différents selon ces dernières et selon l’utilisateur. Mais tu en auras, crois-moi.
Si cet article avait été un beau comparatif entre les deux distributions, avec des arguments intéressants, j’aurais apprécié et j’aurais compris ce passage. Mais là, je l’avoue, je suis extrêmement déçu par la débilité profonde de cet article - désolé mais il n’y a pas d’autre mot.

Presque tous les arguments cités sont faux ou non valables.
Communauté
Ce n’est pas parce qu’une communauté est plus nombreuse qu’elle est forcément meilleure, encore moins si la communauté Ubuntu est plus remplie grace à sa simplicité.
Paquets
Il y a un utilitaire intégré à Fedora pour installer simplement des logiciels. De plus, depuis que je suis passé d’Ubuntu à Fedora, je n’ai eu à ajouter des dépôts RPM qu’une ou deux fois. Et ça n’a pas vraiment relevé de la magie vaudou. Alors que sur Ubuntu, j’ai dû très souvent ajouter des dépôts pour obtenir un programme.
Apparence
Que ce soit sous Fedora ou Ubuntu, KDE ou Gnome ne change pas des masses. De plus, Gnome devient de moins en moins ergonomique. Mais cela, Fedora n’y est vraiment pour rien. Et sous-entendre qu’une distribution est forcément mieux parce qu’elle est plus jolie, ça fait rigoler quand même.
Avis personnel de mon passage à Fedora depuis Ubuntu :
Ubuntu est simple. Au point que n’ayant que cette distribution avant Fedora, je me suis senti un peu dérouté par le changement. Mais je m’y suis vite fait, car dans le fond, le fonctionnement est le même.
J’ai même trouvé des avantages à Fedora comparé à Ubuntu. Par exemple, certains logiciels disponibles dans la logithèque étaient dans une version plus récente que leurs équivalents sur Ubuntu, pour lequel il fallait soit attendre 6 mois soit ajouter des dépôts pour obtenir les versions récentes de certains programmes.
Ubuntu convient plus à des gens qui cherchent la simplicité, comme les débutants en informatique. Étant informaticien (développeur et technicien), je me suis senti plus rassasié avec Fedora.
